Training
"Humanistically-Informed Scientists and
Scientifically-Informed Humanists"
HCTP is preparing a new generation of scholars to grapple
with the interconnectedness of technologies, people, places, and work
in contemporary health care.
HCTP is premised on a reciprocity between interdisciplinary
teaching and research. Doctoral and Post-Doctoral Fellows
learn skills of interdisciplinary collaboration from examples
set by our Faculty Mentors, who work together across disciplines
to teach and solve shared research problems.
At the same time, collaborative relationships among Mentors
are deepened through interdisciplinary co-supervision and
team-teaching.
HCTP training opportunities include:
- Interdisciplinary Mentorship
- Team-Taught Graduate Research Courses
- Integrative Monthly Seminars
- Professional Development Retreats
- Annual Collaborative Research Workshops
- Generous Fellowships
- Knowledge Translation and Exchange
HCTP was launched as a CIHR
Strategic Training Initiative in 2002. Funding for HCTP was
renewed in 2009 by the Institute of Health
Services and Policy Research at CIHR.
